He'll be gone til November...

..of next year. Starting in February.

Contrary to what his lyrics might lead you to believe, Weezy F. Baby cannot snap his fingers and disappear from the precinct. In fact, he went so far as to plea guilty today to a gun charge he got in New York a couple years ago. Give Lil Wayne 8 to 10 months in a jail cell to sit down and think of new lyrics? Can’t be too bad. I can see a mixtape coming from behind bars (you heard it here first). Problem is, he’ll have no access to his medicine while he’s in the slammer. Could be a completely different style of Wayne that we’ve never heard. Regardless, his fans are not going to go away in the meantime, and when he gets out he will surely return to Best Rapper Alive status. According to the article, he still has a couple different charges to deal with. For music’s sake I hope he doesn’t make a habit of getting busted living out his lyrics.

Make the Kid Wear Samba's

South Florida: The adidas sponsored University of Central Florida is making headlines lately, and it's nothing that has to do with having the top freshman class, preseason # 2 ranking or the most win's in College Basketball history. It has to do with the G.O.A.T.'s (The Guy Above) son, Marcus. Marcus Jordan wants to sport his pop's kicks during games this up-coming season, the University promised him he could, and adidas, well, adidas doesn't agree so much. They sponsor the university under an exclusive $3 million, six-year contract with adidas that requires all coaches and athletes to use the company's shoes, apparel and game equipment. M. Jordan Jr said that, during recruitment, he was promised he could wear Air Jordan's during the season and was told that adidas said this would not be a problem. That is an issue when a spokeswoman for adidas said "...there is no compromise..." for this season anyway.

The good part for Marcus, the Family, and the apparel line is both the University and adidas will work together to form "relationships [that] are based upon agreed deliverables for both parties."

Seriously Steve Phillips??

You are a national celebrity. Act like it. This looks like a drunken 3am last girl at the bar mistake. You're better than that.

Feel Good Music w/ Mishka

I first heard about Mishka while checking out Matthew McConaughey's website, which had an article about the reggae artist that was recently signed to j.k. livin records. McConaughey has been Mishka's biggest supporter since he discovered him on a trip to the Caribbean a few years back, and he actually produced Mishka's third album entitled "Above the Bones." Mishka was born and raised in Bermuda, where he lived on a 40 foot sailing vessel almost his entire life with family on the water in the Caribbean. Must be nice...

His music is a nice chill blend of reggae, blues, rock and other mellow styles. He is a rastafarian who infuses plenty of his religious and political views in his music, which makes it that much better. Here's the video from his third album "Above the Bones."

Big trouble in little StL?

http://imagecache5.art.com/p/LRG/20/2045/LRL4D00Z/st-louis-cardinals.jpg

What a complete change of fortune for the St. Louis Cardinals this
year. They went from being the NL shoe-in for the World Series to
being the laughing stock of the early post-season. Now with Tony
LaRussa's and Dave Duncan's futures in StL questionable at best, the
huge ordeal surrounding Matt Holliday's options with the club, and an
underpaid/underpraised Albert Pujols SURELY considering a departure to
a more sizable market-city, the question left to ask is "where do we
go from here?" If we keep our fixtures in place (Larussa/Duncan,
Pujols, Carpenter, Wainwright) and perhaps lose Holliday (in order to
keep those fixtures), we will be right where we started at the
beginning of this year, with a slightly older starting rotation - for
better or for worse. And if we continue to do that year after year,
then we succumb to a vicious cycle that has served as the fine line
of separation between contenders and pretenders. We HAVE to have
another bat behind Pujols. It legitimized us as an offensive team and
also as a force to be reckoned with in the National League. The thing
is, we don't have room for Holliday's contract, especially if we offer
more money to The Machine.. Which begs the original question of the
post. Unfortunately for you, Mr. Solo Dolo does not have the answer.
But I do have ideas... and they will surface sooner than later. But
let's see how a couple things play out in this '09 season first. Oh,
did I even mention the turmoil at the closer position? Yikes.

Can you feel the tension in the air right now?

It's that time of year again; Baseball Playoffs are heating up, Fantasy Football trades are happening left and right, and of course NCAA Basketball is right around the corner.  YDF is back and ready to give you the inside analysis on all the happenings, as well as the need-to-see videos out there right now on youtube. I can feel it down in my plums...

New Kid on the Block

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, today is a very special day in the world of the wide web. No, the St. Louis Cardinals did not some how make it back into the playoffs (unfortunately). No, Tim Tebow has not shown any reported signs of mortality (thankfully). And no, the Kentucky basketball season isn't, for some crazy reason, starting early (against my wishes on many a falling star). Those are all good guesses, but none are correct. Instead, today is the day that I liberate my alter-ego - Mr. Solo Dolo. (Listen to Kid Cudi's new cd, you'll have a better idea of what that is all about.) This is simply an introduction, me letting you know that I am in the proverbial "house". So stay tuned as YDF catches a second wind this fall, and all of your former favorite bloggers come out of their unreasonably extended hibernation. I can assure you - it's going to be fun...

Billy the Kid!

Congrats to one of Kentucky's own and good friend to many at the YDF headquarters for his great run in the 2009 WSOP 'Main Event'.  Billy Kopp found himself chip leader throughout day 6 and much of day 7 in the largest stage in professional poker.  Unfortunately for Billy, his run stopped just short of the elusive final table, finishing in 12th place and pocketing nearly $900,000.  Showing his talent not only in this tournament, but other WSOP Circuit events and online victories as well, Billy will surely be a contender in the poker world for many years to come.  The staff here at YDF wishes you well with the prize money and future tournaments as well.

Who Made Who?

To the politicians in Washington D.C. who make decisions on what we as free Americans can and can't do with our lives, here is an AC/DC video to remind you that we voted for you pricks in the first place. How about you leave us the hell alone.
