Ice Skating Bear Kills Trainer

MOSCOW, Russia (CNN) -- A bear on ice skates attacked two people during rehearsals at a circus in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, killing one of them, Kyrgyz officials said Friday.
In the incident, which happened Thursday, the 5-year-old animal killed the circus administrator, Dmitry Potapov, and mauled an animal trainer, who was attempting to rescue him.
"The incident occurred during a rehearsal by the Russian state circus company troupe which was performing in Bishkek with the program, Bears on Ice," Ministry of Culture and Information director Kurmangazy Isanayev told reporters.
It is unclear what caused the bear to attack Potapov, 25, nearly severing one of his legs while dragging him across the ice by his neck. Medical personnel were unable to save Potapov, who died at the scene.
The 29-year-old circus trainer Yevgeny Popov, who attempted to rescue Potapov, was also severely injured, according to doctors.
"The victim has sustained serious injuries - deep scalp lacerations, bruising of the brain, lacerations on his body. His condition is considered critical," Dr. Gulnara Tashibekova told reporters on Russian state television.
After the incident, the circus was cordoned off by police and emergency service workers. Experts have been brought in to examine the bear, which was shot and died at the scene.
Russia has a long-standing tradition of training bears to perform tricks such as riding motorcycles, ice skating, and playing hockey. Fatal attacks are unusual.

I'm all for entertainment, but isn't it about fucking time we get rid of the god damn circus. I've never been to a circus, probably never will go to one. The only way I'm going to a circus is if this shit happens every time. If someone asked, "Hey Pecker, you wanna go to the circus and see a man get mauled by Jo Jo the ice skating, murdering bear?" You're god damn right I do. Sign me up. I'll camp out for a ticket like the creeps from Big Blue Madness in Lexington, KY. What dipshit thought it would be a good idea to take a fucking bear out of the wilderness and turn it into Wayne Gretsky, anyway? Dude deserves to get his face ripped off.
Anyway, big ups this bear. The guy can ice skate. I bet he gets more bear ass than Yogi. Those chick-bears are only used to seeing their dude-bears eat, sleep and shit, then this son of a bitch comes in with ice skates on and changes the whole game. Last time The Pecker tried to ice skate, I ripped a hole in my brand new jeans and tore my ACL, and that was before I bloodied my nose.

John Wall's Eligibility In Question

The question regarding John Wall's eligibility has become a matter of public knowledge as of Thursday, as it was reported by ESPN's Dana O'Neal and well-known UK/Calipari-hater Pat Forde. Kentucky has been investigating Wall's eligibility for months now because his former AAU coach was a certified agent. As of tonight, the primary focus has been on the possibility that Brian Clifton (Wall's coach) provided some financial assistance on Wall's visits to different universities, including UK. For many of the visits the #1 ranked recruit took, Clifton accompanied him to offer his wisdom and just so happened to maybe pick up the tab once or twice.

Right now, all 13 players on UK's roster are still considered eligible, including Wall. The likely outcome of this ordeal is that Wall may have to repay any money that was paid out of Clifton's pocket that directly benefited him. Unless more news comes to light that shakes this situation up for the worse, UK fans can rest easy and expect to see the highly-versitaile point guard running the new dribble-drive offense at THE University of Kentucky. Watch this video to see a minute amount of what Mr. John Wall is capable of.

He'll be gone til November...

..of next year. Starting in February.

Contrary to what his lyrics might lead you to believe, Weezy F. Baby cannot snap his fingers and disappear from the precinct. In fact, he went so far as to plea guilty today to a gun charge he got in New York a couple years ago. Give Lil Wayne 8 to 10 months in a jail cell to sit down and think of new lyrics? Can’t be too bad. I can see a mixtape coming from behind bars (you heard it here first). Problem is, he’ll have no access to his medicine while he’s in the slammer. Could be a completely different style of Wayne that we’ve never heard. Regardless, his fans are not going to go away in the meantime, and when he gets out he will surely return to Best Rapper Alive status. According to the article, he still has a couple different charges to deal with. For music’s sake I hope he doesn’t make a habit of getting busted living out his lyrics.

Make the Kid Wear Samba's

South Florida: The adidas sponsored University of Central Florida is making headlines lately, and it's nothing that has to do with having the top freshman class, preseason # 2 ranking or the most win's in College Basketball history. It has to do with the G.O.A.T.'s (The Guy Above) son, Marcus. Marcus Jordan wants to sport his pop's kicks during games this up-coming season, the University promised him he could, and adidas, well, adidas doesn't agree so much. They sponsor the university under an exclusive $3 million, six-year contract with adidas that requires all coaches and athletes to use the company's shoes, apparel and game equipment. M. Jordan Jr said that, during recruitment, he was promised he could wear Air Jordan's during the season and was told that adidas said this would not be a problem. That is an issue when a spokeswoman for adidas said "...there is no compromise..." for this season anyway.

The good part for Marcus, the Family, and the apparel line is both the University and adidas will work together to form "relationships [that] are based upon agreed deliverables for both parties."

Seriously Steve Phillips??

You are a national celebrity. Act like it. This looks like a drunken 3am last girl at the bar mistake. You're better than that.

Feel Good Music w/ Mishka

I first heard about Mishka while checking out Matthew McConaughey's website, which had an article about the reggae artist that was recently signed to j.k. livin records. McConaughey has been Mishka's biggest supporter since he discovered him on a trip to the Caribbean a few years back, and he actually produced Mishka's third album entitled "Above the Bones." Mishka was born and raised in Bermuda, where he lived on a 40 foot sailing vessel almost his entire life with family on the water in the Caribbean. Must be nice...

His music is a nice chill blend of reggae, blues, rock and other mellow styles. He is a rastafarian who infuses plenty of his religious and political views in his music, which makes it that much better. Here's the video from his third album "Above the Bones."

Big trouble in little StL?

http://imagecache5.art.com/p/LRG/20/2045/LRL4D00Z/st-louis-cardinals.jpg

What a complete change of fortune for the St. Louis Cardinals this
year. They went from being the NL shoe-in for the World Series to
being the laughing stock of the early post-season. Now with Tony
LaRussa's and Dave Duncan's futures in StL questionable at best, the
huge ordeal surrounding Matt Holliday's options with the club, and an
underpaid/underpraised Albert Pujols SURELY considering a departure to
a more sizable market-city, the question left to ask is "where do we
go from here?" If we keep our fixtures in place (Larussa/Duncan,
Pujols, Carpenter, Wainwright) and perhaps lose Holliday (in order to
keep those fixtures), we will be right where we started at the
beginning of this year, with a slightly older starting rotation - for
better or for worse. And if we continue to do that year after year,
then we succumb to a vicious cycle that has served as the fine line
of separation between contenders and pretenders. We HAVE to have
another bat behind Pujols. It legitimized us as an offensive team and
also as a force to be reckoned with in the National League. The thing
is, we don't have room for Holliday's contract, especially if we offer
more money to The Machine.. Which begs the original question of the
post. Unfortunately for you, Mr. Solo Dolo does not have the answer.
But I do have ideas... and they will surface sooner than later. But
let's see how a couple things play out in this '09 season first. Oh,
did I even mention the turmoil at the closer position? Yikes.

Can you feel the tension in the air right now?

It's that time of year again; Baseball Playoffs are heating up, Fantasy Football trades are happening left and right, and of course NCAA Basketball is right around the corner.  YDF is back and ready to give you the inside analysis on all the happenings, as well as the need-to-see videos out there right now on youtube. I can feel it down in my plums...

New Kid on the Block

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, today is a very special day in the world of the wide web. No, the St. Louis Cardinals did not some how make it back into the playoffs (unfortunately). No, Tim Tebow has not shown any reported signs of mortality (thankfully). And no, the Kentucky basketball season isn't, for some crazy reason, starting early (against my wishes on many a falling star). Those are all good guesses, but none are correct. Instead, today is the day that I liberate my alter-ego - Mr. Solo Dolo. (Listen to Kid Cudi's new cd, you'll have a better idea of what that is all about.) This is simply an introduction, me letting you know that I am in the proverbial "house". So stay tuned as YDF catches a second wind this fall, and all of your former favorite bloggers come out of their unreasonably extended hibernation. I can assure you - it's going to be fun...
