Lowe's Motor Speedway celebrates it's 25th anniversary of the All-Star race this weekend in North Carolina. This race brings up some controversy from some idiots because of a hundred different reasons. A lot of analysists say that this race is bad because the lower funded teams trying to get their foot in the door get wrecked and beat up in this race because everyone is making more aggressive moves and doing everything they can to win the $1,000,000 purse. Well to hell with them, because this race is going to be damn entertaining. Everyone is going to be racing harder than usual because it's not a points race and the drivers are going to try to pass like Cole Trickle with a dynamite stick under their ass.
You've got to expect Jimmie Johnson to win this race. You could almost say this is "The House That Jimmie Built" because he is so damn good here. He's got 3 wins, 5 top 5's and 8 top 10's in just 15 starts...if he doesn't win he'll be close. Some other notables are Kasey Kahne who won both the All-Star race and the Coca Cola 600 the following weekend after being voted into the race as the fan favorite. Dale Jr. can get off on this race too if he would pull his head out of his ass, but he hasn't seemed to do anything yet this year. A couple other to watch for are Matt Kenseth, Tony "Smoke" Stewart and "General" Jeff Gordon. Oh Yeah, I forgot to mention that homegrown Jeremy Mayfield out of Owensboro, KY did test positive for beaver hormone injections and NASCAR has allowed him to continue racing.
Lastly on the coattails of Coach Leo Johnson, I've got another band you guys should all check out. They're from Gilbertsville, KY (a.k.a. Kentucky Lake) and they've been melting my face lately. The video is kind of awkward, but the song will make you proud to be from Kentucky.
