Most Valuable Playa

We are now well into the throws of the NBA season with really only a couple of weeks separating you the viewer from 40 games in 40 nights (remember wear you ear plugs when C-Webb and Sir Charles are on set together). I for one couldn't be more excited as I live in a relatively quiet town and honestly don't have much better to do than watch hours of piss poor basketball and officiating until we get to the conference finals.

This being the case there is one debate that will be settled in the coming weeks: who is the MVP?

Americans love lists and so do I so here is a list of really the only candidates all season.
  • Lebron James - He may be favored in most circles because he is having a MONSTER year. Actually monster might be an understatement. He is averaging a robust 28-7-7 and his team has the most wins in the NBA at the time this was posted. Numbers aside you can even see subjectively that the former #1 pick is firing on all cylinders right now. From highlight reel dunks to inspiring Dubs to eat a whole loaf of bread in one bite your boy in Cleveland is on top of pretty much everything right now...and that probably includes your girlfriend.
  • Kobe Bryant - Now here is a guy you can actually believe IS on top of your girlfrie...er...nevermind. The reigning MVP and best player in the game is having another stellar year even if nobody is willing to give him credit for it. Numbers don't tell the whole story with this man (even if he is averaging a nice 27-5-4-1.5) because simply put his team is just better than everybody elses'. You don't need me to rehash a "Kobe is a great team player now!" storyline, but do appreciate the fact that he is integrating himself in the offense and defense so well that the Lake Show hasn't been seriously challenged for Western Conference supremacy all year. With all the great teams in that conference that is saying a lot.
  • Dwayne Wade - Flash has comeback with a vengance this season dispelling all the rumors that he was too injury prone to succeed in the association. While leading the Heat (who had the worst record in the league last year) into playoff consideration he has also managed to lead the league in scoring and fall in the top ten of a host of other major statistical categories. All this aside he is also a great guy who puts a lot of time and effort giving back to his community which counts in my mystical MVP ballot. D.Wade is in rare form right now and its something special watching him make mind blowing plays night in and night out. He also has all-time street cred from Kentucky fans after single handedly dismantling the 2003 Wildcats.
  • Patrick Patterson - He is a beast and that's all I got to say about that.
My pick in the end would have to be for Mr. Wade simply because of the dumpster fire that is the rest of his team right now. I know LBJ is on top of the world, but there is just something his game this season makes me want to put him at #3 on the ballot. If you know me personally you would have figured I went with K8, I mean K24, because he is my favorite player. He got his last season and probably should have more from prior seasons (instead of the ballin' Canadian), but his team is really really good and that has taken some of the other-worldly pressure off his shoulders.
D.Wade is the pick simply because its his season. He has the most memorable moments, the best numbers, and the best commericals to back it up.
