So although much of this post revolves around speculation, one thing is certain. I, along with anyone else who has been in the city of Lexington over the past 4 years (my case, 5) is wondering why this couldn't have happened when we were in school??? I remember going back to freshman year and camping outside of Rupp just to watch Keith Langford and Aaron Miles (no Wayne Simien) kick our ass. Or getting 3 McDonald's All-American's just to watch the team fizzle and not put up a legitimate Final 4 team. I wondered what it would have been like to be here in Lexington during the glory years of 1996-1998. Well many of you lucky freshman fixers might get to experience a similar era.
Possible top 10 for 2009-10 and beyond (notice how i said 10, not 2 or 3 like years past):
1) Jodie Meeks (return)
2) Patrick Patterson (return)
3) Darius Miller (return)
4) Roburt Sallie (transfer)
5) Wesley Witherspoon (transfer)
6) DeMarcus Cousins (freddie)
7) John Wall (freddie)
8) Xavier Henry (freddie)
9) Daniel Orton (freddie)
10) Michael Porter (HAHAHAHA)
Gotta think Michael Porter will still get some minutes for his great heart and hustle, right?!?!
Once again, this most certainly won't happen. But then again, it had no chance to occur over the past 5 years. At least you can hope and pray

And don't forget we've got that transfer michael pilgrim who is supposed to be pretty damn good too. He sat out this season.
ReplyDeleteMatt Pilgrim, I think. His older brother was Mike - not sure where he went, but he was pretty solid in HS. Very athletic, and bigger than his little brother (both are HUGE).
ReplyDeleteMike Pilgrim played for Purcell Marian HS in Cincinnati. Remember watching him play, and I was sitting a row in front of UCLA Scouts. I think he went JUCO & then to Cincy and never really panned out. His brother is a freak & I hope he can put things together and be solid for the Cats. If anybody get it out of him, well, let's just say I like my chances with Cal.
It'll be interesting to see whether Porter returns or not. Personally, I'd like to see him stay & see what he could do in a system like Calipari's. Turn him into a 2 guard & give him some spot minutes as a shooter.
And there's no way that Sallie & Witherspoon (if they come) will be here with Porter. They'll sit out his senior season.
ReplyDeleteI sure as hell like that lineup though. It makes me giddy.

ReplyDeleteNot ready to crown cal king just yet.. basketball expert Dr. todd has said the university will honor next year's previous commitments. Even though this is Kentucky we can't have twenty scholarships. Plus. a down SEC is still like a german pound cake compared to the cupcake that is the C-USA.
ReplyDeleteAnd people seem to forget the 2005 team was one point or even one rebound away from a Final Four. That team had half as much talent as the one that lost yesterday in Indy to the coach we should be going after. Had Tubby stayed we would not only have McDonald's All-American Patterson but Jai Lucas would be here as well. I guess a top-10 ranking for 2009 classes is more evidence Tubby can't recruit...Minnesota will make the Final Four before Kentucky does again
I'll take that bet..
ReplyDeleteA top 10 recruiting class for Minnesota? By what standards?
ReplyDeleteHere's a link showing that Minnesota indeed has a top 25 class, at #22. (Per Rivals).
Fortunately for Tubby, 3 of his 4 recruits are from Minnesota.
