West-Sweet 16 Uconn vs. Purdue

Distractions continue to hover over the Uconn Basketball squadron this season.  First they lose their PG Jerome Dyson to season ending knee surgery, then they play their NCAA tournament opener without their head coach, Jim Calhoun, and recently it has been reported that the Huskies have broken NCAA rules when recruiting former basketball player Nate Miles.

With a new distraction to deal with, the Huskies have to focus on the game ahead of them in order to advance in the NCAA tournament.  Tonight in their Sweet Sixteen match-up they face the Purdue Boilermakers (27-9).  Uconn (29-4) has won their first two games in the tourney on an average of 41 points.  With that said, it is very noticeable that the Huskies have found some offense without the presence of  Jerome Dyson.  The Boilermakers on the other hand have barely got by their first two match-ups in the tournament against Northern Iowa and Washington.

SIDE-NOTES:

- The Huskies are a team that does not have much depth which can be a major issue.  They must stay our of foul trouble and keep Thabeet on the floor.

- The Hall of Famer, Jim Calhoun has won two National Titles with UConn in 1999 and 2004.  The road to both of those two titles went through the West region.  (Last time they won the title Jim Calhoun missed the NCAA tourney opener, as he did this year)

- The Boilermakers are not as athletic and rely on a more balanced attack and are looking to upset the Huskies.
G- E'twaun Moore (14 ppg), F- JuJuan Johnson (13.4 ppg), and F- Robbie Hummel (12.4 ppg)

Purdue Boilermakers  (+7.5) (-110)    Connecticut Huskies (-7.5) (-110)
