East Regional Preview Duke vs Villanova

The No. 2 seed Duke Blue Devils take on the No. 3 Villanova Wildcats in Boston at 9:57pm tonight. Nova is coming off a big win against UCLA where the Wildcats looked stellar. Duke defeated Texas down the wire in a tough second round match-up. Both of these teams like to score and transition and are both able to adapt throughout the game. Also, both of these teams have had similar stats throughout their seasons.

Duke Nova
77.9 PPG 77 PPG
44.9% FG 45.7% FG
35.5% 3pt 36.5% 3pt
72% FT 74.6% FT

Side-Notes:

Gerald Henderson will be huge tonight as he can score from long-range and can get to the rim often throughout the game. Nova will have to rotate their defenders on him often, you should expect to see Dwayne Anderson, Reggie Redding, and Corey Stokes defending him.

Kyle Singler vs Dante Cunningham will be a battle all over the floor. Cunningham leads Nova in points and rebounds per game and could cause some trouble for Singler. Should be a hard-nosed match-up.

Villanova's guards are much quicker than Dukes and could cause them some trouble. If Scottie Reynolds and Corey Fisher can penetrate and either dish or get to the rack, then that could help free open Nova's wingmen for the 3.

Duke -2.5
