Tonight Madison Square Garden Welcomes King James

Lebron James and company travel to the Big Apple to face the New York Knicks. The Knicks are coming off of a 126-117 loss Monday to the Lakers. The loss snapped the Knicks three game winning streak due to Kobe Bryant's record setting performance. Kobe's 61 point game set a new record at Madison Square Garden for most points by an opponent set by Jordan (55 pts.) and overall record which was held by New York Knicks legend Bernard King (60 pts.)

The last match-up between the Cavaliers and the Knicks Lebron put up decent numbers by dropping 21 points, grabbing five boards, and dishing out six assist. The game ended in a 118-82 victory for the Cavs. The Cavaliers 36 point beating was the biggest defeat over the Knicks since January 8th 2005 when they won by 25.

The Cleveland Cavaliers (38-9) are looking to improve their 15-9 road record with a victory tonight. While the Knicks (21-26) are trying to pull off an upset and make a statement with a home win over the Cavaliers. The Knicks schedule for the first week of February is somewhat difficult. Monday night they hosted the Lakers, tonight they play Lebron and the Cavs, and Friday in comes KG, P. Pierce, Jesus Shuttlesworth and the Celtics. A win tonight or Friday will help boost the Knicks' confidence for the remainder season and boy do they need it.

Injuries are going to be a key factor for tonight's match-up. Sasha Pavlovic and Lorenzen Wright are both game time decisions for the Cavs due to the flu. Chris Duhon (flu) and Al Harrington (sore left leg) are both probable for the Knicks. If New York plays without these two look for the Cavaliers to put on a show once again at the Garden.

So you can ask yourself a few questions. Did Kobe set the bar Monday night for Lebron? Will King James go for the 61 point record? Or, Will Lebron have a cool double-double and walk out of the Garden with an easy W? What do you think?

  1. Let's be honest here ladies and gents... King James is a great player and most likely will go down as one of the greatest in his era for sure, but 61 points will not happen for him tonight nor EVER for that matter. Dude can't hit an outside jumper (at least right now) and has no chance of going 20/20 from the line (what it takes to put up 60 or more). Although this might be his best chance of coming close, playing against a team that puts up less of an effort on the defensive end than Wulfeck does at laying off the fast food! My line for Lebron tonight (if the game is somewhat closer than that shalacking they put on em last time) 34 pts 10 reb 8 ast and 4 blk (most preferably on the goober himself David Lee).
By the way take a peak at those sexy legs in the picture. They run in the family.

  2. 61 points is a new record, that's a fact. 52 Points, 11 Assists, and 10 Boards is leaps and bounds more impressive than 61, 3, and 0. Big ups to Lebron for stepping up tonight and not matching the points, but upping the performance put on by Kobe.
